A car bomb has exploded near a bus transporting soldiers outside Erciyes University in Kayseri, a province in central Turkey, killing 13 military personnel and wounding many others, according to the country’s military.
“The bus was full of soldiers going on their weekend leave,” said Al Jazeera’s Sinem Koseoglu, reporting from Istanbul.
“The soldiers in the bus are from the commando brigade.”
The bus was hit as it drove past the car, Turkish media reported.
13 soldiers were killed and 48 others were wounded as a result of the explosion, Turkey’s NTV news channel said, citing a military statement.
